As of September 20, according to Axios News, the cost of ads booked to appear from August 1 through November 5, 2024 for all local, state, and national candidates in both major political parties is $3,100,000,000.00—that’s $3 billion, one hundred million, or $3.1 billion for the decimally challenged.
Of this $3.1 billion, just over $2 billion is spent by “outside groups”—that is, not by a particular candidate, or a party’s campaign for the candidate.

Something to Consider: What are your thoughts on the tension between a political system that requires billions of dollars to run for office, your own income and savings/investments, your desire to help the candidates you want to get elected, and all of our general complicity with this system?
