Generally, somewhere between the ages of 7 and 11, we make a developmental move from preoperational to concrete operational that allows us, among other things, to “take the role of another” human being….
Recommendation: Listen deeply to a variety of elected officials, candidates, journalists, and performance news celebrities, and explore the extent to which each of them seems able to walk a mile in others’ shoes at the least, or truly look and feel AS another human being. Good luck.
Something to Consider: Choose a family member or close friend whom you know well. Explore the extent to which you are are able to 1) walk in their shoes as yourself; 2) walk in their shoes as them; 3) look and feel AS they do amid the blessings and curses they face. Be kind to yourself.
