As the subtitle states, the title refers to both this newsletter/podcast and to the United States. For new readers or listeners, or for anyone who hasn’t read the About page or the November 1, 2023 Introductory Post, here’s a quick overview:
We’re exploring the current state of the United States through multiple lenses that include history, politics, science, developmental psychology, spirituality, religion, media, and more. Multiple lenses invite an integrated exploration that provides a more inclusive, comprehensive, balanced, and complex perspective and understanding than any one lens can.
Recommendations: Spend some time with Bill Plotkin’s Eco-Soulcentric Developmental Wheel or Terri O’Fallon’s Stages model. If you’re new to the concept of development, either of these may feel a bit challenging at first—as they should. The state of the nation is beyond a bit challenging right now.
Something to Consider: Whether or not you engage the above recommendations, consider this: when it comes to a me-centric, group-centric, human-centric, or all-that-is-centric worldview, what’s the difference between your understanding of each and your embodiment of any of them? How do you actually live?
This podcast is also available as a written newsletter on Substack.
You can review the intention, context, background, and general trajectory of this podcast/newsletter on the About page. Here’s the short version: we’re taking a multidisciplinary (history, developmental psychology, culture, gender, race, spirituality, etc.) look at America’s collective Shadow (Jungian sense) and competing narratives as they manifest historically and currently, and offering some prospects for healing narratives and Shadow integration.
